about

"Charming Disaster love to tell two sides of a story with their voices, and even more so when no one knows whose side they're actually on." –Cityguide Rhein Neckar

"Stockholm Syndrome" refers to the phenomenon where a hostage begins to identify with their kidnapper. But who is the captor and who is the captive? Sometimes things get a little complicated.

This song was inspired by Gang of Four, Bloc Party, and Bonnie & Clyde (both the Serge Gainsbourg/Brigitte Bardot song and the actual Bonnie and Clyde).

lyrics

It’s a hostage situation
In a blindfold on the floor and
Looking handsome
How can you take what has been given
There is no one who’s been stolen
There’s no need to pay the ransom

It’s an old investigation
Will we find out who’s the captive
Who’s the captor
Can’t remember the abduction
You could call it an entrapment
But it feels a lot like rapture

Lock the door and pull the curtain
Blood is beating in your eardrum
Take your pulse and check the symptoms
Is this love or Stockholm Syndrome

It’s a hostage situation (It’s an old investigation)
In a blindfold on the floor and (Will we find out who’s the captive)
Looking handsome (Who’s the captor)
How can you take what has been given (Can’t remember the abduction)
There is no one who’s been stolen (You could call it an entrapment)
There’s no need to pay the ransom (But it feels a lot like rapture)

Lock the door and pull the curtain
Blood is beating in your eardrum
Take your pulse and check the symptoms
Is this love or Stockholm Syndrome

When we go out we can close our eyes
To keep our secret safe
I’m calling you up with my voice disguised
A number we can’t trace
Think of a place where we can hide
A place we can’t escape

Is this a game that we are playing
Cutting letters with the scissors
In the kitchen
Or is it madness in the making
Tying string around the thumbtacks
Try to pinpoint try to pinpoint our position

Lock the door and pull the curtain
Blood is beating in your eardrum
Take your pulse and check the symptoms
Lock the door and pull the curtain
Blood is beating in your eardrum
Take your pulse and check the symptoms

Lock the door and pull the curtain (It’s a hostage situation)
Blood is beating in your eardrum (In a blindfold on the floor)
Take your pulse and check the symptoms (And looking handsome)
Lock the door and pull the curtain
Blood is beating in your eardrum (How can you take what has been given)
Take your pulse and check the symptoms
Is this love or Stockholm syndrome
