Cherry Red 04:27
do you hear the motor running pilot light went out who left the gas on is it just the television whispers in the dark another night of bad dreams you can hear the restless spirits feel a sense of dread what’s in the basement take a dizzy inhalation you can’t catch your breath you’ve got the vapors cherry red that’s how you’ll know the evidence when blood runs cold nobody said you need a ghost to have your house be haunted have your house be haunted have your house be haunted cherry red that’s how you’ll know the evidence when blood runs cold nobody said you need a ghost to have your house be haunted have your house be haunted have your house be haunted heavy weight of apprehension pressing on your chest you’re going under floating through the empty hallways you haven’t left your bed forever slumber cherry red that’s how you’ll know the evidence when blood runs cold nobody said you need a ghost to have your house be haunted have your house be haunted have your house be haunted

It’s a hostage situation In a blindfold on the floor and Looking handsome How can you take what has been given There is no one who’s been stolen There’s no need to pay the ransom It’s an old investigation Will we find out who’s the captive Who’s the captor Can’t remember the abduction You could call it an entrapment But it feels a lot like rapture Lock the door and pull the curtain Blood is beating in your eardrum Take your pulse and check the symptoms Is this love or Stockholm Syndrome It’s a hostage situation (It’s an old investigation) In a blindfold on the floor and (Will we find out who’s the captive) Looking handsome (Who’s the captor) How can you take what has been given (Can’t remember the abduction) There is no one who’s been stolen (You could call it an entrapment) There’s no need to pay the ransom (But it feels a lot like rapture) Lock the door and pull the curtain Blood is beating in your eardrum Take your pulse and check the symptoms Is this love or Stockholm Syndrome When we go out we can close our eyes To keep our secret safe I’m calling you up with my voice disguised A number we can’t trace Think of a place where we can hide A place we can’t escape Is this a game that we are playing Cutting letters with the scissors In the kitchen Or is it madness in the making Tying string around the thumbtacks Try to pinpoint try to pinpoint our position Lock the door and pull the curtain Blood is beating in your eardrum Take your pulse and check the symptoms Lock the door and pull the curtain Blood is beating in your eardrum Take your pulse and check the symptoms Lock the door and pull the curtain (It’s a hostage situation) Blood is beating in your eardrum (In a blindfold on the floor) Take your pulse and check the symptoms (And looking handsome) Lock the door and pull the curtain Blood is beating in your eardrum (How can you take what has been given) Take your pulse and check the symptoms Is this love or Stockholm syndrome

Ouroboros 04:29
Your spoon was in the boiling Your thumb was on the scale Don’t try to lead the witness That wont get you anywhere Sit still and try to listen Hear the whispers in the wind Make yourself an empty vessel If you want to let them in Turn pages lick your finger Black ink is on your lips You won’t find out the secret In all the books you kiss Just like the ouroboros Your tail is in your teeth Strip off your outer layer Find out what’s underneath Find out what’s underneath Underneath You’ve had your fun, darling Here’s the part you won’t remember Lion eats the sun, darling Till there’s only glowing embers Who will you become, darling When your skin is torn asunder Torn asunder Turned inside out Now you have found all you wanted Turned inside out Now you have found all you wanted Your wings were in the blueprint A message left in code A phoenix’s potential In the ashes of your bones It is a risky business There is no guarantee If you go out and seek it That truth will set you free What does the moth remember Of caterpillar bliss Is this annihilation Or metamorphosis Or metamorphosis Metamorphosis You’ve had your fun, darling Shining in the summer splendor Lion eats the sun, darling In the dark of deep December Who will you become, darling You’ll receive what you surrender You surrender Turned inside out Now you have found all you wanted Turned inside out Now you have found all you wanted Turned inside out Now you have found all you wanted Turned inside out Now you have found all you wanted

I am a librarian My mind is a cave I don’t understand How people behave I’m greater than some of my parts that seem broken I make my own costumes I own my own name A witch in the wintertime Philosopher king I’m not staring at you I’m considering things A natural scientist Singing my song Where I am going is Where i belong This is my time This is my place Behind the drawn curtain Or right in your face I am a librarian My tongue is a blade With sharp doubled edges To keep you away A creature of habit A half-wild animal Hungry to touch you But also afraid An orbiting satellite Counting the stars Moving in circles Out here in the dark Prisoner of circumstance Lying awake Awaiting the moment I make my escape This is my time This is my place Behind the drawn curtain Or right in your face Did I make a crash landing An alien planet Will others find me in time Sometimes I think I’m the only one of my kind I am a librarian My heart is a fist! My fist in the air The air in my face I'm facing my fear My fear is a friend My friends are beside me I’m ready for this I’ve set all the instruments Sought out the signs It’s what I’ve been studying All of my life This is my time This is my place Behind the drawn curtain Or right in your face This is my time This is my place Behind the drawn curtain Or right in your face This is my time This is my place Behind the drawn curtain Or right in your face This is my time This is my place Behind the drawn curtain Or right in your Right in your face

Houdini 03:34
Break out of that black box Throw the ropes off can you pick locks Chains wrapped 'round your shoulders Never were enough to hold you Darling cross the border I am here now waiting for you Can you hear me in the darkness It’s been so long it’s been so long Wandering free in a dream of a dream Is there somebody calling my name Come inside the circle Where we sit among the candles Tap upon the table Won’t you send us any signal If I could reach out and touch you Would you know me when I come through Will you meet me in the darkness Can we hold on can we hold on Wandering free in a dream of a dream Is there somebody calling my name Ring the bells and Sound the trumpets Are you here Dearly beloved? Wandering free in a dream of a dream Is there somebody calling my name

Murderer 03:56
The air is still, the moon a yellow fingernail It smells like gin beneath the junipers A scraping sound, shovel in the muddy ground I hope you thought to bring a change of shoes Listen dear, we have a situation here Someone’s picking up what we put down Oh my word, I got it from a little bird It might be better if we're not around Murderer, what you gonna do I'm a murderer too Murderer, say it cause its true You're a murderer too Your pouty lip, chewing on your fingertip A troubled look across your face Narrow squint did we wipe the fingerprints How can we be sure we left no trace Murderer, what you gonna do I'm a murderer too Murderer, say it cause its true You're a murderer too Sin or crime, I think we might have crossed a line I fear my dear there is no turning back Do you recall the moment when we lost it all A clenched fist going slack Murderer, what you gonna do I'm a murderer too Murderer, say it cause its true You're a murderer too

Shovel in the back seat Secrets in the front Try to keep your shit together Don’t open up the trunk Fly under the radar Keep your profile low Driving to Idaho Driving to Idaho Driving to Idaho Something might have happened You don’t talk about Make sure that the tail light Isn’t burned out Better watch out Better take it slow Driving to Idaho Driving to Idaho Driving to Idaho Listen for the siren Watch for flashing lights Stick to the speed limit Travel day and night What doesn’t hurt you Is what you don’t know Driving to Idaho Driving to Idaho Driving to Idaho Did you need to go too far Did you do what you had to do Make a wish on a shooting star And hope it’s not aiming at you Idaho Idaho Idaho Idaho Shouting at the windshield Rain is coming down Just another day Till the money runs out Take a deep breath It’s all under control Driving to Idaho Driving to Idaho Driving to Idaho Driving to Idaho Driving to Idaho Driving to Idaho Driving to Idaho Driving to Idaho

Walk with me for a while
Past the parking lot out where the boats glide by
As the sun settles down on the Upper West Side
We’ll leave solid ground behind Put our faces to the wind
Tell stories and secrets of lovers and friends
Or say nothing at all Do the east river ferry waltz East river ferry waltz East river ferry waltz East river ferry waltz Queens softly snores
She’s got to wake up for work in the morning
Manhattan's a drunken mess
Passed out in her silver party dress
As we bump into Brooklyn shore
We stumble like drunkards across the floor
With a step two three, step two three, step two three turn Step two three, step two three, step two three turn Do the east river ferry waltz East river ferry waltz East river ferry waltz East river ferry waltz When the waters rise again Never to come back down
We'll sail between tall buildings Where we used to work uptown
 And an orchestra of seagulls
 Will be the only sound
And we’ll turn to face each other Do the east river ferry waltz East river ferry waltz East river ferry waltz East river ferry waltz The wind can blow good things to you
But the tide will pull them away
Let's treasure this time between us two
With the intimate lopsided sway Of the east river ferry waltz East river ferry waltz East river ferry waltz East river ferry waltz

We’ve been through this many times before Even so you just can’t be sure Hear the crackling pyres burn Sacrifice for the light’s return In the morning When it's still dark as under your pillow It's a warning The run down way you've been feeling low Feeling low Drink your hopes and eat your fears It’s the longest night of the year You can bring the sunshine back again Back again You can bring the sunshine back again Wolves and monsters freely roam We cast no shadows anymore The air is cold and the light has gone Will this winter go on and on There's no dawning And the chill's seeping into your marrow Quit your yawning Sleep's for the weak and the weary-o Weary-o Drink your hopes and eat your fears It’s the longest night of the year You can bring the sunshine back again Back again You can bring the sunshine back again If the sun is truly dead Maybe it won’t be so bad We'll see stars in the afternoon Bats and owls and the constant moon Wind is blowing Take shelter here in this hollow Easy going Wait just a minute and take it slow Take it slow Drink your hopes and eat your fears It’s the longest night of the year You can bring the sunshine back again Back again You can bring the sunshine back again Torches flare on the standing stones In the dark you are not alone Say a prayer for the chosen one Close your eyes now it won’t be long

Charming Disaster is a goth-folk duo based in Brooklyn, NY, formed in 2012 by Ellia Bisker and Jeff Morris. Inspired by the macabre humor of Edward Gorey and Tim Burton, the murder ballads of the Americana tradition, and the dramatic flair of the cabaret, they write songs that tell stories about death, crime, myth, magic, folklore, and the occult. ... more
